FINAL CONCERT “NOTES OF A SUMMER EVENING IN THE CITY”
We concluded the 2023/2024 school year on June 20th with a musical journey led by the professors and students of both the primary and secondary music schools. Our dedicated students and teachers showcased their program in the hall of the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Center. Congratulations to all the students and their professors, and we look forward to new successes in the upcoming school year!
Laureates of the City of Novalja 2024
In June, a formal session was held in celebration of the Day of the City of Novalja, where we were honored as this year’s laureates, receiving a certificate of appreciation for our outstanding contribution to the community through the promotion of musical arts in the city of Novalja. With a dedicated team of experienced educators and professors, our music school has been operating for many years in Zagreb, with a branch in Novalja.
We look forward to seizing every opportunity in the coming years to continue building strong foundations of educational excellence and innovation. We will keep fostering fertile ground for the artistic growth of our students, with an emphasis on expanding the range of creative and multidisciplinary skills.
When Arts Collide!
In April 2024, another workshop was held as part of the “When Arts Collide” program. This time, our guest, Buga Marija Šimić, led a workshop on public speaking and improvisation, where our students had the opportunity to connect music and acting through various interactive improvisation tasks, helping them build confidence and apply it to their public performances.
GALA CONCERT (Canto Vocal Programs 2023)
This year’s international opera seminar, Canto Vocal Programs, which took place in Zagreb from June 28th, concluded with a Gala concert on July 8th. Young artists from various parts of the world, along with guest professors and renowned artists with prior collaborations with famous opera houses, including the globally renowned Metropolitan Opera in New York, had the opportunity to perform at Klovićevi dvori.
We had the chance to enjoy outstanding performances. We look forward to future editions of the Canto program!
INTERGENERATIONAL CONCERT “BIG AND SMALL”
We have concluded another fantastic school year with an incredible Intergenerational Concert “Big and Small.”
Students from elementary and high school, along with their teachers, amazed us with their performances.
A big thank you to everyone who participated in the concert and to all the visitors who joined us!

When Arts Collide!
In March, we held another workshop from the “When Arts Collide” program with our elementary music school students. The fusion of music and acting represents a unique combination of arts in which acting skills and musical performances merge into a singular experience.
With this fusion, artists have the opportunity to explore new dimensions of expression and create unforgettable performances that will leave the audience in awe.
Art workshop
As part of the Institute’s multidisciplinary program ˝When Arts Collide˝, our students participated in an art workshop held by a painter from the Academy of Fine Arts, Margareta Belančić! While listening to the works of Camille Saint-Saëns, Dmitri Shostakovich, Vivaldi and Mozart, the students focused on the sound of one specific instrument and tried to capture it abstractly on canvas.
Opera Gala Concert (Canto Vocal Programs)
This year’s international opera seminar Canto in Zagreb ended with the Gala concert that took place on July 9, 2022 in Klovićevi dvori. Guest professors, renowned artists who collaborate with famous opera houses, including the world-famous Metropolitan Opera in New York, along with young artists from different parts of the world, gave us exquisite spectacle.
Notes of Time – final concert in Lisinski
For the first time, our traditional final student-professor concert was held in the most famous concert hall in Zagreb – Vatroslav Lisinski. The Small hall was full of guests who got to listen to instrumental and vocal works by famous composers of classical music, operas, operettas and musicals.

International Competition of solo singers Stojan Stojanov Gančev
At the International Competition of solo singers Stojan Stojanov Gančev, our student Jakov Kalajžić won the 1st prize. Our student Rea Veseli won the 1st prize and performance with the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra!

The masterclass Canto is back!
Our voice students Jakov, Daniel and Rea had a unique opportunity to be a part of a masterclass which was led by this year’s Canto Vocal program professors: Sharon Mohar (stage director) Lucy Arner (conductor) and Liora Maurer (vocal coach).
Our students received invaluable advice on phrasing and character building. A big thank you to guest professors, students and the audience. See you soon in Zagreb at the Canto Vocal Program!
Workshop Art Nouveau
Our school with the Museum of Arts and Crafts through the European project “Art Nouveau2” organized an educational workshop for our students as part of our program “When arts collide”.
At the workshop, our students created colorful works resembling stained glass windows from the Art Nouveau period and found inspiration in a composition by Claude Debussy.
Christmas concert of young opera soloists at the Croatian National Theater in Varaždin
Our voice students performed at the Croatian National Theater Varaždin and amazed the audience with a carefully selected Christmas program that included operatic repertoire, popular Christmas songs and scenes from renowned musicals.
Sculpture and music workshop with Hrvoje Dumančić
We were hosted by an academic sculptor Hrvoje Dumančić at an interactive sculpture-music presentation; our students had the opportunity to learn a thing or two about sculpture, materials, and how sculpture and music complement each other. Thank you Hrvoje for this fun experience!
Artists for artists
We are always glad to collaborate with young promising artists and support them in their work. Our professors performed at the presentation of the doctoral thesis of the academic sculptor Hrvoje Dumančić and enriched the presentation of his work with a music program. We were honored to participate in this event!

Final concert “The young and the GROWN” in Novalja
We are always happy to share special moments in the growth of our students. The final concert “The young and the GROWN” at the Cultural Center Gozdenica in Novalja is definitely one of them. Big applause for our students in Novalja who performed with our professors, Marin Tomasović and Eduard Kobeščak.
Final concert at the Croatian Music Institute
Our students and professors performed together on the big stage of the Croatian Music Institute and delighted the audience and wonderfully ended this school year. We couldn’t be more proud!
Interactive violin presentation
In the Cultural Center Gozdenica, Novalja, we held an interactive presentation with the goal to introduce young people on Pag to classical music. Our violin teacher, Marino Tomasović, presented the instrument and delighted the audience with the performance of both classical and popular pieces.
